Please be reminded that, as stipulated in the University's Guidelines for Usage of Information Resources, members of the University "must not make copies of infringing materials within the University's system or transmit them over the University's network."
Whenever a complaint is received from a copyright owner regarding infringing activities via HKBU network, ITO is obliged, based on evidential information given, to ascertain the identity of the infringing user and report the case to either the Human Resources Office or the Office of Student Affairs as the responsible office based on the user type. The case will then be fully taken over by the responsible office. Whether or not any subsequent investigative and/or disciplinary action will follow is a matter resting entirely with the responsible office.
Fair use of the University's system and network by all users is instrumental for HKBU to stay being a respectable member in both the cyber and intellectual community. Consideration and cooperation by all users are most appreciated.
