Effective 1 April 2024, the Photography and Videography services will be transferred from ITO to the newly established University Engagement Office (UEO), aimed at enhancing the University's stakeholder engagement and brand strengthening in Mainland China. COMMUNAL IT SERVICES
Communal IT services in HKBU are provided by the Office of Information Technology (ITO). The following videos will give a concise introduction to some important concepts and service offerings such as Single-Sign-On-ID (SSOid) for accessing all IT systems, HKBU Unified Portal (BUniPort), Email System (Microsoft 365), Campus Wi-Fi (BU-Standard and BU-Advanced), Student Printing Solution (Follow-U-Print) and eLearning System (Moodle).
ESSENTIALS IT SERVICES AND SUPPORT
SSOid Account
Single Sign On user id (SSOid) is created automatically for students to sign in to the intranet and U-wide IT services using one set of login credentials. You can enjoy different IT services with a valid SSOid account.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
To protect your SSOid from unauthorized access, Duo MFA has been implemented for all central IT services.
HKBU email service makes use of Outlook offered by Microsoft Office Service. Users are recommended to use Google’s “Chrome” browser to directly access the service and their mailboxes. You may check out our guidelines about the setup on different devices.
BUHub
BUhub is an interactive on-line platform for the HKBU community. It is designed to seamlessly connect students, alumni, employers, mentors and staff on one easy-to-use platform. BUhub also matches job seekers with new openings, supports coaching and helps foster new entrepreneurial ventures for all participants.
HKBU Mobile
HKBU Mobile is an official mobile app for the HKBU community. It provides a single platform to access various HKBU services and information. Students can check their grade records and class timetable in the mobile app.
Wifi
Wireless network, or so-called Wi-Fi, is provided within the campus for mobile devices to have access to the University’s internal network and /or the Internet.
BUniPort
BUniPort is an information gateway that connects the University, students and staff. Through the BUniPort, you can get access to your HKBU email, personal profile, study information, the library system as well as other IT services.
Zoom / Webex
The platforms allow you to start and join meetings quickly and easily. You can schedule, start, and join meetings from your desktop or handheld device.
Student Learning Experience System (SLES)
SLES serves as a common platform for staff and students to manage and record Co-curricular (including Co-curricular Learning (CCL) activities) and Extra-curricular activities, providing a full picture of HKBU students' learning experience beyond curriculum. You are able to enroll in CCL-recognized activities, view their CCL attendance record and fulfilment status in the System.
Office 365 (Desktop App Installation)
HKBU current student are entitled to install Microsoft Office 365 Professional Plus in their personal Windows/Mac computers for free, with a maximum of 5 machines.
Moodle
Moodle is a collaborative environment to facilitate the use of innovative technology for teaching, learning and research among course instructors and students. You can get learning materials through HKBU Moodle.
Antivirus (ESET Endpoint Protection)
To keep your PC protected from phishing websites and virus, HKBU current student can enjoy a free copy of ESET Endpoint Antivirus.

Printing
(Follow-U-print)
“Follow-U-Print” is a printing service for the University community. Students can submit print jobs anywhere in the Campus and collect printouts at various locations.
Anti-Plagiarism Checking
(Turnitin in Moodle)
The plagiarism detection and prevention platform can compare submitted academic assignments against an extensive database of published and unpublished information, and provide a report on the degree of similarity between the assignment and the material in that database.
